Caroline Bertram is a recent graduate with a BFA and a lot of time on her hands. Once the golden child of her writing department, she is beginning to discover that making a living as a "working creative" isn't all it's cracked up to be and is certainly not the ethereal vision painted for her by her professors in school. When she tries to write a novel about her existential woes, it gets misrepresented and recategorized by an eager publisher's marketing team as a children's story against Caroline's wishes. Unfortunately, it is a hit. Caroline soon learns that when marketability is all that matters, success can be a different kind of prison.
